Dele Alli Attacked By Armed Robbers At His Home

Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder Dele Alli was attacked by knife-wielding armed robbers in the early hours of Wednesday at his home in North London.

The 24-year-old was with his brother, their girlfriends and another individual when two robbers in balaclavas broke through the back of the house, making away with jewellery and watches.

Alli tried fighting back but was punched in the face, although he suffered no major injuries.

CCTV footage of the incident has been handed over the police, who have launched an investigation.

The England international has been isolating at home amid the coronavirus pandemic but Spurs are due to resume training from next week as plans to resume the Premier League from next month are already in place.

A police spokesman said: 'Police were called at approximately 00:35hrs on Wednesday, 13 May to reports of a robbery at a residential address in Barnet.

'Two males gained entry to the property and stole items of jewellery, including watches, before fleeing.

'One male occupant of the property, aged in his 20s, suffered a minor facial injury after being assaulted. He did not require hospital treatment.

'No arrests; enquiries into the circumstances continue.'

Writing on Twitter late on Wednesday, Alli said: "Thank you for all the messages. Horrible experience but we’re all okay now. Appreciate the support."

Alli is the second Tottenham star to have his home robbed after Jan Vertonghen’s also got burgled while he was away on Champions League duty in March.

Alli made 35 appearances in all competitions for Spurs, scoring nine goals, before the season was paused.
